The Class 1 Experience and Equivalency program is a condensed version of Class 1 training, tailored for drivers who have documented Class 3 experience. It’s ideal for individuals with at least 2 years of Class 3 experience, allowing them to complete the transition to a Class 1 license faster while still receiving comprehensive training. To enroll in the Experience and Equivalency program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a valid Alberta Class 3 driver’s license.
- Have at least 2 years of experience operating vehicles with 3 or more axles.
- Apply for experience verification through the government.
- Provide the necessary documentation proving your driving experience.
- Maintain a Class 3 license or an equivalent from another Canadian jurisdiction for at least 2 years.
Course Details: This program focuses on advanced driving skills using 13 and 18-speed manual transmissions, covering:
- 11 hours of classroom instruction
- 9 hours of on-road driving practice
- 13.5 hours of off-road maneuvers (such as coupling and backing)
- 6.5 hours of in-yard training (vehicle inspection activities)
